GPU prices in 2020 (pt.2)

In a previous article, I explained the woes of GPU pricing. I personally have been considering switching to AMD and I think it deserves follow up.

When pricing any hardware, it’s important to compare cost to performance. In this case, the performance point is my current card – A GTX 1080.

A 1080 used to be pretty close to the top, but not anymore. Here’s a look at the top GPU performers as of Feb 23rd 2020

What really catches my eye in this second chart is the Radeon RX 5700 XT. It’s not the absolute best, but it’s a damn good value when it comes to bang for your buck.

I used to hate Radeon software, but I haven’t really used it since before AMD Acquired ATI. One of our discord members brought up Nvidia Shadow play, but AMD has their own version of ReLive software. I’m not a die-hard anything, so I’ve been on the fence about switching up, and I know plenty of folks that would be happy to have a gently used 1080- If I bought a RX5700XT, I’d buy a pair, since I am crunching AI, rendering videos and so on.

What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments below.
